AEI(heart)U Challenge #1

Hello!!

So have you heard of a new stamp company called Avery Elle? Well IF you haven't be sure to check them out! I've had my eye on them and was lucky to receive a set from my Secret Santa this holiday.

The challenge at AE (which is there 1st challenge too!!) is to make a project that sums up your crafty style. And to tell you the truth i'm not sure what my style is, i pretty much do a little of everything! I like to do CAS, vintage, lots of layers, coloring or even make a card with no stamping!! lol

So i made 2 cards, one CAS, the other a bit more complicated with some layers and stamping, with a vintage vibe!

First up is the CAS card. I also received an awesome Memory Box die from my Secret Santa so first i die cut the flowers from white cardstock, then i thought i would try something a little different.

I adhered the die cut panel to a transparency with pop up dots. Then i used some glitter glue and to fill in the flowers and stems. I used blues and a purple for the flowers and used a toothpick to help blend the two colors. It turned out pretty good!

Next i stamped the frame multiple times on a strip of paper. Then i stamped the sentiment in each frame, masking and stamping each line. I adhered the strip along the flower panel.

For my next card i used a pattern paper scrap, cut it to size, then stamped the frame several times on the paper. After stamping i also moved the frame a little and stamped again. Gives each frame a shadow.

I stamped the Way to Go sentiment in one of the frames, stamping again right after to get a shadow. Then i used the flowers from the card above and placed them in the remaining frames. Next i added some gold glitter ribbon to three of the frames.

So that's it so far, i'm having fun playing with my new Avery Elle stamps! I'm sure i'll be making more cards with these stamps!! The challenge is open until January 4th, so i hope you play along too! If you don;t have their stamps they have a free digi stamp to use for the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink's December Blog Hop

Hi!

It's time for Papertrey Ink's Monthly Blog Hop! This month the inspirations white on white.

I started with rustic cream cardstock and die cut a snowflake. I stamped the matching snowflake in fine linen ink, then stamped over it with white ink. Then i added a white button to the snowflake center.

Next i cut a strip of paper and stamped hello in fine linen and again with white. Then i stamped the snowflakes in white all over the cardbase and then used clear powder to emboss them.

I adhered the strip and the snowflake to the cardbase.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Moxie Fab Keen on Neon Challenge

Hi!

I'm popping in real quick to share a card i made this weekend this weekend for Moxie Fab's Keen on Neon Challenge. Today is the last day, so if you want to play along you better get crackin!! :)

The challenge is to use Neon, and looking through my stash, the only think that could be considered neon is some orange embossing powder that i got, but never used. And since its still the holiday the season, i wanted to make a Christmas card. It also looks a lot more orange in person, its cloudy today, so had to do inside pictures!

I found at Micheal's this oh so cute birdy stamp by Hampton Art. First i stamped the birds on my cardstock. Then i stamped and embossed the background. Before i melted the powder, i used a toothpick to carefully brush of the powder from the birds legs, i wanted the background to be the background to the birds!

Next i stamped the birds again on Kraft paper, cut them out and added them to my cardbase with pop up dots. I added some black pearls for the birds eyes and a little glitter glue to the birds hats! Last i added a little Kraft ink to the edges of the cardbase.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! The semester is over today (and finals, YAY!!), so i'll be spending a lot of time in the craft room the next couple weeks, so stay tuned for new cards and projects!!!

Holiday Hop Day 1: Vintage with DCWV & Hampton Art

Hello and welcome to day one of the two-day DCWV/Hampton Art Holiday Hop!

DCWV and Hampton Art are two companies that go above and beyond to provide a wide seleciton of products from classic, to vintage, to trendy and modern. So, when we decided to team up it was only natural that we would want to show you some variety.

Day #1 of our hop is all about vintage! Whether you are talking lace and pearls and soft weathered colors or distressed, grungy and anged, if you love all things vintage we have some beautiful projects to show you today!

If you have come here from Jan Garber's blog then you're on track! If not, you should go back to the DCWV blog and start the hop from there!

Here's today hop list! (Giveaway info at the end of my post!)

I like vintage ... but i'm not good at making anything super vintage! There are some awesome designers out there that do it wonderfuly! But i'm not one! :) My vintage usually includes a vintage (or like) image, vintage paper and distressed edges, what i like think of as light vintage! :)

I started with some DCWV pattern paper and trimmed it to fit my cardbase, then i inked the edges with Mudslide dye ink by Colorbox. Their dye ink makes great ink to distress edges, i love to use Mudslide and Putty.

Next i stamped the ballerina image from Hampton Art/Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet 2 and embossed it with clear powder. Then i colored it with water colors. I trimmed my card stock, then i cut the panel into 3 strips. Next i rounded each corner of the strips, then inked the edges.

I matted the strips on some DSWV green pattern paper. I used pop up dots and let a little bit of the green paper show between each strip.

Next i made a twine fringe to edge the green panel (and i thought it added a nice vintage touch to the card) To do this i used double sided tape on the wrong side of the green panel. I made loops with my twine, once i did one row i went back down for a second and a third.

I stamped the sentiment in Mudslide ink, then inked the edges. But it still needed a little more distressing. To do this i pressed some of the dye ink onto a cleark stamping block. I added a little bit of water to the ink and painted some areas of the scroll. I adhered the sentiment to the stamped panel. And last added the panel to my cardbase with pop up dots.

Hampton Art & DCWV are giveaway some awesom goodies! Just leave a comment along each blog TODAY and TOMORROW to be entered, the more blogs you comment on the better your chance!

Hampton Art and Cheery Lynn Designs Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome to Hampton Art & Cheery Lynn Designs Holiday Blog Hop Week! We are so excited to be swapping product with such an awesome company!

This hop has a holiday theme and we’ve chosen some of our best products to be showcased by some fantastic designers to give you a bundle of inspiration all week long. We are celebrating the holidays and I have a few cards to share with you today!! As I was making my first card using the Buttons #2 Cherry Lynn Designs die, a couple other ideas came to me and I just had to give them a try!

But first the card that started it all! I stamped 6 small snowflakes and used one button to die cut them out. I added a bit of twine to each button and set them aside.

Next I made my own glitter paper, with a adhesive sheet of paper and glitter. I trimmed the glitter paper to fit my cardbase and then added a solid blue piece along the bottom.

I then stamped the sentiment Let it Snow…BUT I had to mask of each word to stamp the sentiment all in one line. Its super easy, just use a little scotch tape!!

I added some twine around the glitter/cardstock panel and tied it in a bow. I also added some twine to each button center. Last I adhered the buttons to the glitter paper and adhered the panel to my cardbase.

So after make the above card, I decided to die cut a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of buttons from christmas pattern paper. I made the next two cards from these buttons.

To keep this post from be extra, extra long I’ll just make a few comments about each one! But if you have any questions please feel free to email me!

This card I just stamped the sendiment and added a bunch of buttons across the card. Last I added a little glitter glue to add a little sparkle!

For my last card I just threaded random buttons on some twine and when I had enough I looped the twine and buttons to make a wreath. I but the wreath on pattern paper and stamped Noel in the middle! The Colorbox dye ink i used for the sentiment is called Putty and its pretty light, but i didn;t want to use brown ink, so i stamped the sentiment multiple times with the Putty ink.

What’s a hop without a prize!? It’s your lucky day… or week really! Both compancies will be giving away a prize all you have to do is comment on the blog posts to be entered to win, its that easy!! And like Hampton Art on Facebook and come back and leave another comment saying you did or do!!

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

Hello!

Its that time of the month again! No NOT that!! haha, its PTI Blog Hopping time!!! This month the challenge is to get your inspirations from book covers, you could pick your own or use a cover from this photo:

I used the a cover from the photo, the top left. I tend to go a little more literal with my inspirations so for my card i started out by die cutting the alphabets all in shades of blue. The blue tied in nicely to CAS-ual Friday's Blue Challenge and due to it being thanksgiving i had extra time to enter it at CAS-ual Fridays!

Since i was going with blue i made it a baby card and die cut the word congradulations. I die cut the letters out of differnt shades of blue card stock.

The book cover's letters were askued a bit, but for my card i descided to make the letter all straight. As a final touch and to help tie it into an acutally baby boy card i stamped a tiny sail boat, colored the sail red and cut it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Now on to the project! I started with the Christmas tree from Hampton Art. I just love this tree! I stamped the tree on some linen fabric and let it dry for a minute. Then i stamped the other side, lining up the trees the best i could.

Next i punched a snowflake, tied a bow with some bakers twine. I placed a tiny sticker from Authentique on the snowflake center. I made another one of these an adhere both to each side of my fabric.

Next i used half of a globe from Globecraft Memories and filled it with a little bit of glitter. Then i adhered my fabric to the globe. After it dried i adhered the other half to the other side of the fabric. Just make sure the tree is in the middle of the globe!

Next i covered one rectangle with pattern paper. I only used one layer, but the kit came with 2 other layers. I wanted the ornament to be all about the tree!!

For the oval cut out, i used craft knife to cut out an oval. Then i cut along the oval ever so often. Then i folded those over the back of the rectangle

Then i used some double sided tape to adhere each flap. Then just to make sure they stayed down i outlined each flap with Glossy Accents. Do this for both rectangles (the front and back of the ornament)

Last i adhered the two rectangles with the globe in between. I used some tiny cloths pins to hold it together while it dried.

And here are some shots of the finished ornament. The glitter i used coated the globe nicely so it has a nice frosted look, kind of looking out of a frosty window! :

Now i have one more project it for you! While i was waiting for the ornament above to dry, i made 10 dry tags! I think these will make great little ornaments for a mini tree!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, your next stop is the talented  Steph Ackerman.
